The U.S. Department of Homeland Security
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has increased the security threat level based on a serious security threat to flights from London. As a result, you should expect the following:
Heightened security at the airport. If you are departing from a major airport, you will experience long lines and delays with security. We are advising all travelers to adjust their arrival times at their respective departure airports to allow for a 3 hour check in, until further notice.
New rules prohibiting any type of liquid, lotions or gels in carry on baggage. Any such item must be transported as checked baggage only or will be discarded. This restriction applies to all airlines and all flight destinations, both international and domestic.
Potential restrictions for laptop computers and personal cell phones being accepted as carry on baggage. The reports vary from airport to airport, and are again unconfirmed, but be prepared for the possibility that these items may be required to be checked in order to be transported.Â
