The easy answer to the question is no. The realistic answer is most of us at some point in time have probably carried a piece of luggage for a client and from time to time will still carry a bag. If a client has two bags I might grab one and let him or her grab one. I never grab both, as I don’t want the client to get the job confused. They must clearly remember you are their for their safety not to be their valet. Obviously we should avoid having both hands occupied. Sometimes it is easier to grab a bag and go than to wait on a skycap or porter to assist further exposing the client during the wait. If the client has other assistants present then, I will typically let others handle the client’s luggage.

If it is a high threat situation we should have staffed appropriately to allow us to move as expeditiously as possible. Similar advice goes for shopping bags.
