My vote is for Chuck Vance.

An argument could be made for the majority of candidates on the list as being the most influential person in the EP industry.
The candidates I’m referring to have made outstanding contributions in the areas of published books and articles, training courses, service in security organizations such as ASIS and NABA, and mentoring to EP Agents who needed their guidance and expertise to help in their career progression.

James, well said.

What about Hucky Austin? Seems to have the most useful information!

Huckie, I understand why you didn’t add your name to the list. You probably consider it self promoting. However, after reading James’s comment I agree with Jeff I definitely feel that you should be on the list.

We vote for Gavin de Becker

That is a list of heavy hitters, and I consider myself fortunate to have seen Bob Duggan, Tony Scotti, and Dr. Kobitz over the weekend at the, “International Executive Protection Conference” sponsored by the ESI Alumni Association. Gavin de Becker also had several of his representatives there. It was truly a watershed event.

Quite an impressive list and all along with Huckie deserve to be there. I have worked with John Sexton and have had the honor of meeting Dr. Kobetz. I cannot think of a better group to be associated with.

Well it depends, The people listed represent some very different styles of teaching and protection.

Mr. K Fitzibbons gave me my break into the industry after I retired from the U.S.Military. He has opened up so many doors that keep opening for me thanks to him. He has made my second career enjoyable and exciting.

Just because someone opened a door for you does not make them an authority on anything. Often it is due to them not wanting to promote someone from within due to self preservation.

Jerry Heying should be on the list. Jerry took over for Dr. Kobetz at EPI and has won contracts for countless EP assignments in NYC and elsewhere.

To hard to pick any one person. My biggest inspiration has been the secret service. My favorite writers and practitioners are Gavin deBecker first, Leroy Thompson second. Hucky clearly does the most to help link the family and keep information contemporary.

I agree that is hard to pick any one person. So, I recommend we add Tom Perroni to the list. He is taking Executive Protection training to a whole new level.

Bethany Duggan, Bob Duggan’s promising young daughter. She can bring new life and breathe fire into her old man’s business.

I agree with LeRoy. I feel Bethany’s passion and understanding for what her father has built will soon make her a very recognizable face in the EP industry.

This is quite a group of distinguished individuals listed who have written very informative and in depth publications to educate those of us who have chosen this profession. However, I am not aware if any of these listed have a forum that is as “right here, right now” as Body Guard Careers. So with that said, I have to cast my vote for Hucky. This website is invaluble to any person working in this field and not to mention the job alerts. I think by far, Hucky is the most influential, with no disrespect to any of the others whatsoever, who have definitely made their marks respectively. I guess it boils down to what each individual thinks is the most important aspect of this profession.
