Active Shooter Response: Surviving an Active Shooter Event

YouTube Preview Image

Great active shooter video to share with your friends and family. An “active shooter” is an armed individual who has attacked with deadly force one or more persons, and who will continue to randomly seek out and kill as many people as possible. This is one of the best active shooter response videos I’ve seen! Active shooter situations can occur anywhere, as we have seen, movie theaters, university campuses. This active shooter training video is intended to help the public in active shooter situations.

Were trained to do Active Shooter in my police explorer post. At competitions, people do NOTHING like this, they just run, scream, and flail their arms. I really hope its not like that in real life.

I am surprised to see you recommend this video, it has very little value. If people need a video to tell them to run if there is an active shooter, then we have interfered with the natural order that Darwin defined.
Notice they don’t say get a CHL and have a plan.
Here is a video in response: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sVKg5wghzg

Harlin,The video was nicely made except lets interject Law Citizens with the RIGHTS and FREEDOMS gaurenteed to them under the Constitution, and the Office workers are excercizing that right, true one or two maybe would be killed or wounded but with some office workers armed the senario would produce an entirely differant outcome, as the Police are Truely Second Responders and the Armed victim is the and always will be the FIRST RESPONDER. HELP PROMOTE CONSEALED CARRY IN EVERY STATE.!!! Thanks, Rick.

Harlan, also when a criminal knows without a doubt that a area has been designated as a GUN FREE ZONE they knoe that it is “OPEN SEASON” on anyone they wish to attack,in any way they wish. “RUN” not likely, “HIDE” not a chance, “Fight” You bet. with anything I can use that will destroy the attacker, until the Government Cowards and Traitors to the Constitution wake up and let ALL AMERICANS have Their RIGHTS and FREEDOMS, No Consealed Carry, just go to a Gun Free Zone and put a target on Your back. thats not FREEDOM or LIBERTY. VOTE PEOPLE,PLEASE VOTE.. A Marine,Patriot,Executive Protection Specialist. P.S. Protect Yourself the Police are NOT mandated to do so.!!!!

When I first saw this video, my thoughts were similar to DavidM. However, upon reflection, I concluded that this video does serve as a valuable thumbnail introduction for the majority of people who view it.

Let’s face it: there is a substantial segment of the population that will NEVER carry a firearm on a regular basis, much less devote the time and expense required to become tactically proficient. This is true no matter how easy the law makes it to lawfully carry concealed.

There are some of us who are, for whatever reason, naturally inclined to run *toward* danger, and do what it takes to neutralize it. But the vast majority of people have much better sense than we do. Most normal, rational, well-adjusted, sane individuals are going to run like hell if faced with an active shooter. They will be unarmed and untrained in cover/escape/evasion techniques. In other words, yes, they need to be told how to run, how to take cover, how to evade, and how to defend themselves with unconventional or improvised weapons if discovered.

It’s not just a matter of telling people to “run.” Anyone who just takes off running away will soon be known simply as “the decedent.”

The best advice remains to obtain and lawfully carry a concealed firearm, and to obtain high quality training in defensive firearm tactics on a frequent basis. While this will always be the best advice, most people won’t follow it. This video is a good primer for those folks.
