In this week’s installment of the two-minute video tip, host Harlan (Hucky) Austin along with special guest Elijah Shaw talk about morals and ethics, and the dangers of becoming romantically involved with your client.
The Entertainment field knows me as kj i have work’ed the world of Rap music for over 30 + years have been around the world protecting artist on tours and on day to day events , i have come up on many guys that call them self a body guard ,when i take them on tour i find my self wondering where were they tought who showed them the skills of personal protection.
Alonzo great suggestion, I wonder how many people would be willing to be totally honest about this question.
Over the years I have seen many EPs who get romantically with the client, its something that happens more then individuals are willing to admit.Especially with males protecting female clients.
The “Have you ever received a sexual advance from a protectee?” poll had results close to 50/50. An interesting follow-up would be: did you cross the line like in the movie or did you do the right thing (and removed yourself from the situation)!
Hucky and Elijah: I love the “The Two-Minute Video Tip.” I think the movie poster for the Bodyguard had it right: Never Let Your Guard Down. Never Fall In Love. You guys are the true pros of the trade. God speed. Doc
You are right Alonzo, 2 minutes is pretty short to discuss ethics, good thing we spend more time on the topic in later episodes. Glad you took the time to view this segment.
“soft” skills are what will bring you to your knees very quickly if not practised as much as your weaponry skills…all too often way over looked
NICE. Enjoyed it.
Two minutes was a bit on the short side to discuss ethics (!), but Mr. Shaw still hit the right marks when he mentioned the “position of trust” we’re in (ideally) and the ways it can be exploited based on various personal “agendas”. I think that many judgment lapses come down to some form or another of violation of the clients’ trust.
On the topic of romance, even if they make the first move, we’re supposed to know better. The writers of the movie mentioned themselves know this (“I can’t protect you that way”).
