As I am currently working for an up and coming Rap Artist whos touring the. U.S. and Euorpe at this time I can attest to the aggresive behavior of other artist security details…Ive had to corral entourages of 30you to 40the men and women storming my artist V.I.P area and green rooms without prior consulting me. The other issue is working the club circuit with this artist every venue is different. Ive had clubs that security is on stage video taoing my artist show and asking for autographs like the fans. Then Ive got venues where security invites their people backstage and in the greenroom for favors or autograghs..I literally have to stand guard on the greenroom door or ooutside my tour bus to keep venue security and the fans under my control. This beef between artist always escalades to the next level that neither artist can control. My client is about to be in that situation as a new beef has been put on the table of whos better between he and his rival on another label..The press is eating it up and its becoming bigger everyday…I am never off my guard and once we start doing arenas I will expand my team to a three man configuration for my detail with one advance agent and we will cease public access unless absolutely necessary…

Rap, hip hop… It is not unusual in that environment. I remember in one of the last nights that I work in this environment I saw four people with gunshot wounds in a fight that involved more than forty individuals, not even counting people who were injured by the impact of glass bottles on their heads. In this environment, depending on whom you work for, being a bodyguard is nothing glamorous, and can become a dangerous profession, even here in USA. But worth it, rappers pay well.

The real truth is, most of these guys working in the entertainment industry as so called Bodyguards or handlers are just as thuggish as the pseudo celebrities they are paid to hang around with. The only prerequisite to being “A bodyguard” in the entrainment industry is you need to be a huge knuckle dragging goon that was once a doorman or bouncer at “da club”. No professionalism or real world protection experience is required. If you need any proof to this just read about the bar room brawls and lack of confidentiality with all of the “tell all books” being written today.

What a joke! Hence the reason why most rappers keep the idiot image going!

This is the reason I don’t work with hollywood types anymore. They all think they are the baddest things on the planet and oh by the way I have a hulking idiot with me (not all of them are idiots mind you).

We learn a couple things from this story. If anyone thought being a body guard is glamorous, the thrill is gone! It can be a very dangerous occupation. Also, it is always interesting to look back and see what could have prevented this clash between two rivals. Was someone caught ‘OFF guard’?
