A vehicle armored to LEVEL II is designed to withstand 7.62mm rifle fire?
7.62 in either 39 or 54 configuration will penetrate level II armor subject to conditions. Generally in ambush style scenarios, attacks within 20-30 meters could be injurious. The penetration of the ammunition is believed to be due to velocity of the projectile. At greater distance, 7.62 may not penetrate the armor, but may cause damage.
What your vehicle will or wont stop SHOULD NEVER be discussed outside your team. The client knows ..and you know. unless its a last resort you never want a stand-up fight using the client transport. Your training and team are your best armor
Level ll would not stop any sort of 7.62 ammo. Even a Tokarev would penetrate it at shorter distances. You would require a Leven lV armor to withstand a &.62 round….The above however is a valid answer when it comes to vests…I have no idea about vehicle armor levels.

In relation to my personal military experience a 7.62 projectile didnt penetrate most of our armored vehicles if any. Im thinking a L-II isnt as thick???

Usually armored vehicles have National Institute of Justice Levels like NIJ-II, NIJ-IIIa, B4, B4+, B6, B6+, and on up for Armor Piercing Rounds. Body Armor has Levels like I, IIA, II, IIIA, III, & IV. In either case no level II will stop a 7.62mm rifle round.

7.62mm rounds come in a armor piercing configuration. Some years ago the black talon 9mm ammunition, dubbed “cop killers” were teflon coated and would go through a tactical vest with balistic plates installed, which classifide the vest at level II.

I guess the answer should be what armored vehicle won’t stop. They will not stop a 50 caliber machine gun bullets; and they will not stop most remote controlled bombs and they probably won’t stop armor-piercing machine gun bullets.
If the threat is high enough to warrant, an armored vehicle offers vastly improved protection.

Personal experience – 7.62 x 39 fmj penetrate lvl III. I would only feel comfortable behind lvl V.

I believe Type II armor only protects up to high-velocity 357 Magnum and 9mm rounds.

Level II balistic protection:
.357 Mag.
158 Grain SP
1450 FPS
.9mm, 124 Grain FMJ
1120 FPS
info can be confirmed at listed web site
Only level IV and up can withstand 7.62x 39
